One of the newest additions to the system is I-14. Although only a small section exists in Texas, there are much grander plans to continue across the Deep South, with the proposed route going through at least four more states (Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia). But for now, we're looking at the short eastbound drive of what is currently open.

Why is the first exit numbered 277? Might it be because there's a westward extension in mind? Whatever the reason, this is where I-14 begins alongside US 190.

The main reason for this section of I-14 is to directly connect Fort Hood to the Interstate system. And yes, more military bases across the South are planned to be connected directly to I-14.

This is the current eastern end of I-14, but in the future, it will end much further east, in either Augusta, GA or North Augusta, SC.
