And now, the westbound drive on I-72:
At this interchange, Church Street makes the transition to I-72.
US 36 joins in, and will share I-72's alignment for the rest of its route.
I-72 and US 36 take a ride around Decatur on a concurrency with I-55.
At the I-172 interchange, CKC 110 is added to the mix.
And that's the end...of I-72, but US 36 (and the CKC) will continue across Missouri as an exprressway with more interchanges than stoplights.

Interstate 72 Eastbound
I-72 may appear to exist only in Illinois, but a small piece extends into Missouri, connecting the cities of Hannibal and Champlain to the state capital of Springfield. Let's do the eastbound trek on it:
I-72 begins west of Hannibal, concurrent with US 36.
Crossing the river into Illinois.
Meeting the only 3di associated with I-72, which is also a part of the Chicago-Kansas City Expressway.
Hitching a ride on I-55 for a brief concurrency around Springfield.
I-72 ends at I-57, and University Avenue continues into Champaign.
