Unlike most other Interstates, there's no mile 0 or exit 1. Instead, the mileposts range from 194 to 340. From Phoenix to Cordes Junction, SR 69 was the main route until it was replaced by I-17.

The Maricopa Freeway ends here, and the Black Canyon Freeway begins. This interchange is also located within the Durango Curve.

I-17 meets I-10 for the second time, at The Stack.

Loop 101 is the main freeway loop around Phoenix. While most other major cities are served by 3di's, Phoenix currently has none of its own, although there were two I-x10 spurs planned for it, but later dropped.

Loop 303 is also known as the Bob Stump Memorial Parkway; in addition, this is the northern terminus of the Black Canyon Freeway. I-17 continues northward as the Arizona Veterans Highway.

SR 69 splits off from I-17 to serve Prescott.

Reaching the current northern terminus of I-17. Since at least the early 1990s, proposals have been made to extend the Interstate into Utah, but so far nothing has ever come of it.
