Interstate H2 Northbound

This is the second H-series Interstate to be covered. H-2 runs 8 miles from Pearl City to Wahiawa. You are probably wondering why H-1 (and H-3) are signed east-west and H-2 is signed north-south, which is the opposite of the mainland's setup, and here's the answer, plain and simple: The H-series Interstates are exempt from the normal signing conventions because of the order in which they were built, so this is the second Hawaiian Interstate to be constructed.
