A brief part of I-16 makes up the routing of the Fall Line Freeway, which is also signposted as SR 540 from Columbus to Augusta. Despite being named as such, the route is not an actual freeway at all, but it has been marked as part of the proposed I-14 corridor.

The Fall Line Freeway leaves I-16, and SR 540 continues northeast towards Augusta.

At I-95, the control cities are Jacksonville in Florida and Florence in South Carolina; it just goes to show how short its Georgia section really is.

Here, I-16 meets its only 3di. Why this wasn't numbered I-116 or I-316, I can't even figure out. However, I-516 carries a secret designation of SR 421.

I-16 reaches its end as it transforms into Montgomery Street northbound. For southbound traffic wishing to access I-16's eastern terminus, Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard would be used.
