This post is about I-24, which makes up a major link between Atlanta and the Midwest. First up is the eastbound drive, which is as follows:
This exit leads to a town which shares its name with the main setting in the Superman universe. In fact, a statue of the superhero stands in the town square.
I-69 joins in from the south. Presently incomplete, it is slated to connect Paducah to Memphis, and eventually reach Texas, where several disconnected sections exist.
I-69 splits off to the north. The only two missing links to be filled in are the Ohio River Bridge (which will link Henderson, KY to Evansville, IN) and a section from Martinsville to Indianapolis.
I-169 is the new designation for the Pennyrile Parkway from this interchange to Hopkinsville.
This is the first of two interchanges with SR 155, the Briley Parkway.
I-24 and I-65 form a concurrency into downtown Nashville.
This time, I-24 and I-40 run concurrent going away from downtown.
I-24 meets Briley Parkway again, which is now a surface road as opposed to a freeway at the first interchange.
Here, I-24 meets I-840 in the extreme southern suburbs. A full outer beltway has been planned for Nashville, but at the present time, only the southern half exists. Due to environmental concerns, it is extremely unlikely that the northern half will ever be built.
For a short distance, I-24 sneaks into Georgia; despite this, it maintains the mileage in Tennessee, and the exits are set up to reflect this.
I-59 connects Chattanooga to New Orleans via the cities of Birmingham and Meridian.
The second and last exit before returning to Tennessee.
This is secret I-124; while unmarked, signage was put up at one time, but was taken down because the freeway was better known as US 27.
This is the end of the road for I-24, but I-75 continues the southeast trajectory into Atlanta. Going the other direction, it bends back to the northeast, heading towards Knoxville.
A showcase of the highways in North America. Includes the 48 continental United States, Canada, Alaska and Hawaii.
